ACUPUNCTURE
Single-use needles are shallowly inserted at strategically chosen points along channels fo energy (called "qi") to increase circulatino and promote healing. Insertion is gentle and generally pain-free. After insertion, waves of relaxation wash over the body, and many patients desire to take a nap. For more sensitive patients, the thinnest needles are used. Electrical stimulation - sending a gentle electrical current through the needles - may be employed to enhance the treatment. Time with needles is approximately 30 minutes.
CUPPING
Glass cups are placed onto the body, also to increase circulation and promote healing. Heat is placed inside the cup to create a vacuum, the cup then pressed onto the skin, suction happening upon contact. The round marks from this treatment have been seen on the backs of Olympic athletes and Hollywood stars. Cupping can be employed to treat injuries, general aches and pains, and respiratory complications of the common cold or flu.
HERBAL MEDICINE
Chinese herbal formulas have been used to treat illnesses and strengthen the constitution for thousands of years. Ingredients include plant and animal parts, although formulas can be prepare without animal ingredients if preferred. KPC bran herbs are used exclusively at Konigsberg Acupuncture for their rigorous inspection process to ensure herb uniformity, potency, and freedom from heavy metals and other pollutants. LIFESTYLE COUNSELING
While acupuncture and herbal medicine are powerful tools, the greatest healing occurs when change is brought into the daily life. We call this, "taking the treatment home with you." We may discuss nutrition, home and work environments, relationships, and exercise to discover opportunites for greater wellness. Talk about lifestyle improvement occurs only as appropriate and with utmost discretion and respect for the patient.
